In one of the most dominant runs in recent memory, the Notre Dame Hounds won the TELUS Cup after going unbeaten in both the round robin and knockout stage.
After four days of the TELUS Cups, contenders are starting to separate from pretenders. The Notre Dame Hounds from Saskatchewan are alone atop the standing with a perfect 4-0, including a hard-fought 2-1 win over Lethbridge. They are first in both goals scored goals allowed.
The talent in the TELUS Cup is always abundant, and several top prospects for Canadian Hockey League (CHL) drafts will be under the spotlight this year – some looking to boost draft stock and others hoping to impress their major junior or college teams.
After both semifinal games were decided by only a single goal, the 2017 Telus Cup came down to the wire with a thriller to crown a new champion in B.C.
Day 4 of the 2017 Telus Cup saw the standings get a little bit crowded, but one team was able to secure their spot in Saturday’s semifinals. The Oil Kings weren’t able to fully capitalize on the 11 power play opportunities in the first game of the day against the Pat Canadians.
The race for first place at the 2017 Telus Cup just got tighter as three teams are tied for the top spot. The Leduc Oil Kings were able to hand the Mississauga Rebels their first loss of the tournament after building a healthy lead and not looking back in the first game of the day.
The second day of the 2017 Telus Cup saw Mississauga and Cape Breton continue their winning ways. The Rebels established their lead early with a goal from Bair Gendunov and didn’t look back from there.
The 2017 Telus Cup kicked off with the eastern teams taking an early advantage after Day 1 action. The teams from out east didn’t have any trouble adjusting to the time change as this year’s tournament is out west in Prince George.
The biggest hockey moment to date for many of the nation’s top Midget hockey players takes place towards the end of April at the National Championships.
The Cariboo Cougars are in the midst of one of the greatest British Columbia Major Midget League (BCMML) seasons ever and a big reason is their stifling defence.
