With six teams on the latest Minor Midget Top-10 Rankings now locked into a spot at the 2017 OHL Cup, we haven’t seen any drastic change over the past 11 weeks, but there are some new teams launching up at the right time. Here is a closer look at the latest 2017 OHL Cup Top 10 Rankings.

1. London Jr. Knights
The London Jr. Knights reign supreme and are headed to the big show. The Knights have been ranked number one for the past two months and have solidified their spot at the OHL Cup. They have a high-powered offence with a couple of players over 55 points. NHL first round draft pick hopeful Ryan Suzuki has 59 points (19G, 40A) and leads his team in points. The Jr. Knights are currently riding a 13-game win streak heading into the alliance championships.

2. Mississauga Jr. Rebels
The Mississauga Jr. Rebels finished fifth in the GTHL but advanced to the league championships, clinching their spot in the OHL Cup. The Jr. Rebels have a skilled blue line led by 6’2, 192 lbs. Michael Vukojevic. The 15-year-old hails from Oakville, Ont. and has committed to the University of Michigan for the 2019-20 season.

3. Whitby Wildcats
The Whitby Wildcats are hosting the OMHA championships, which will be a five-team showdown where the top four will move on to the OHL Cup. Whitby swept Ajax-Pickering in three straight games in the prelims, continuing a 14-game win streak. Wildcats goaltender Ethan Langevin has been their rock, allowing only 16 goals and posting 10 shutouts in 21 games played. Another shining star is Whitby local Cole Perfetti, who put up 54 points in just 33 games.  

4. Toronto Marlboros
The Toronto Marlboros’ talent gets them to fourth seed, but the team finished the regular season second in league standings. Now they’ve found their spot in the OHL Cup with Mississauga as they face off in the GTHL finals. The Marlboros’ Jack Hughes will be a familiar face to Mississauga as that’s where he played for last year. Hughes went to the OHL Cup with the Jr. Rebels last year and put up three goals and an assist in five games.  Hughes hails from Orlando, Florida and scouts believe he will be a top pick in the OHL. 

5. Quinte Red Devils
The Quinte Red Devils find themselves part of the five-team showdown in Whitby to play for a ticket to the OHL Cup. The Red Devils are powered by Michael Andrews, who has the second most points in the league at 76 and leads the OMHA in assists with 43 in 42 games. Quinte is loaded with offence, as they have four players in the top-10 league scorers. Along with Andrews, Logan White sits eighth with 55 points, Daniel Panetta is sixth with 63 points and Emmet Pierce's 66 points put him fourth.  

6. Vaughan Kings
The Vaughan Kings have found a recurring spot Top-10 list and are moving up the standings. They’ve clinched their spot in the OHL Cup as a top-four team in the GTHL. Defenceman Nathan Staios, son of NHL-journeyman Steve Staios, was selected to play in the GTHL top prospects game and has been key for Vaughan. Joining Staios at the top prospects game was goaltender Christian Sbaraglia, who has been steady all year for the Kings and has committed to the University of Penn state in 2020-21. 

7. Ajax-Pickering Raiders
The Ajax-Pickering Raiders have made an appearance in all 11 Top-10 rankings, thanks largely to their impressive offensive line. Connor McMichael is the star of the show for Ajax-Pickering and sits third in league scoring with 72 points in 41 games while putting up 42 goals. The nearest goal total to him on his team is 19. The Raiders are another team that will be part of the five-team toss-up to find out which four teams will advance to the OHL Cup. 

8. Waterloo Wolves
The Waterloo Wolves sit just four points behind number one ranked London in the Alliance league standings, with a 26-5-2 record. The Wolves ride a good offence with a couple of players sporting a point-per-game average or better, but it’s on the back end where they impress. Nathan Allensen has put up 18 goals from the blue line giving him 52 points in 59 games and plus-30. Waterloo takes a 19-game winning streak into the Alliance championship versus the London Jr. Knights, getting to the championship has landed them in the OHL Cup.

9. Brampton 45’s
The Brampton 45’s have fought their way out of the SCTA just to be tossed in the five-team OMHA battle royal, along with the Grey-Bruce Highlanders, for their chance to make the trip to the OHL Cup. The 45’s are going to be scrappy contenders as this is just their second week being ranked. Brampton will be leaning on power forward Andrew Horsley, who was just one point off the league lead with 50 points in 36 games and is tied for the most goals at 27. Brampton’s offensive line will be one to watch if they make it to the OHL Cup, they have seven players with 30 points or more for the most in the SCTA. 

10. Toronto Jr. Canadiens
Like Brampton, the Toronto Jr. Canadiens have only been ranked twice in the last almost three months. The Jr. Canadiens are the final team of the top four GTHL squads to clinch a spot in the rankings will be one of they few teams who are returning after last year. Cody Morgan has been looked upon for points all year and will expect no less going to the big stage at the OHL Cup. 

That rounds out the top 10 ranked teams for Week 11. The OMHA is still undecided with a Brampton team looking to make noise, the GTHL sees Vaughan move in to a spot they couldn’t get last year and Alliance is looking at two powerhouses. It will all be worked out before March 14, 2017 when the puck drops on the 2017 edition of the OHL Cup.
